Now that we are going into year 2, there is more post-game content to take on than ever before in addition to the standard quickplay PvP mode. When Bungie disabled the skill-based matchmaking for this particular mode last month, the entire feel became chaotic and incredibly unbalanced. Turns out – that was exactly what players wanted but now Bungie seems to have ‘accidently’ fixed this and players want the bugged version back. You know, pre-skill based matchmaking.
Just yesterday, Bungie set loose their pre-Forsaken patch and with it came the inevitable return of skill-based matchmaking.
The Destiny forums and subreddit are overflowing with posts and comments praising quickplay’s accidental second wind and begging Bungie to leave the matchmaking as it is.

The presentation is top notch and the game transitions seamlessly from menu to menu and location to location. The game draws inspiration from Halo, Borderlands, Call of Duty, and Mass Effect and manages to harmoniously bring all the features together to make a very solid and balanced game. For me, the art direction looks like a cross between Halo and Mass Effect. There are open environments a la Borderlands to explore and loot with your friends. The music is well done and the ambient sounds really help to differentiate each location and add to the experience.
The guns sound great up close and even from across the map, hearing the echo of battle is exciting. The RPG elements are nicely implemented but not overly complex.

In theory, Escalation Protocols function as a special sort of outdoor endgame activity in which players fight off increasingly powerful waves of Hive enemies. In the eyes of the community, one slight tweak could potentially fix those headaches: Sadly, even the most skilled fireteams have been finding the later waves of the Escalation Protocols in which enemy power levels nearly crest while players are capped at an insurmountable challenge.
Since a single instance of Hellas Basin can hold a maximum of nine players at once, those seeking to defeat an entire Escalation Protocol have turned to unorthodox strategies in order to gather three fireteams in the same instance and thus increase their chances of success. Bungie has never explicitly said how many players are meant to undertake a single Escalation Protocol, but their presence in Hellas Basin suggests that the closer to nine players there are, the better.

Bungie fights off Destiny’s biggest enemy, the lag, with matchmaking update
He was so much more than a painter, a television star, and a beautiful afro. He was also an very wise man. But none have been happier than a recent error that disabled skill and connection as factors when matchmaking in the Quickplay PvP playlist. But the Crucible has only felt those changes the most in the past two weeks. For some reason, Bungie made all Crucible modes four-vs-four at the start of Destiny 2.
Destiny Lore; Destiny IRC; Bungie; The Rules. It failed terribly because of skill based matchmaking. K/D wise, I was in the top 15% of players and I would get matched with people in Europe and Asia. Of course the latency is going to be bad and so the crucible suffered as a result.
First of all to address the reason why people get so upset whenever you mention matchmaking wouldn’t work – and I can only speculate – but I imagine it’s for the same reason why whenever you mention matchmaking people are quick to list out a laundry list of reasons why it wouldn’t work. It’s just a matter of opinion that you wish to uphold. I agree with a lot of what both of you have said.
Raids do require a degree of coordination and team camaraderie. At the same time these roadblocks aren’t as insurmountable as you might think. When I say they should have matchmaking and it would work I don’t mean “matchmaking” in the classic styling of games like Halo or Call of Duty. Obviously this system would have to be slightly more robust, but not by that much really. As I mentioned before, it just needs a few filters, a few guidelines and some categorization. You would either become party leader “looking for fireteam members” or you would be “looking for group” which would match you into an existing party.
The party leader could have access to a few simple filters: These would all be really simple things to integrate into a game that desperately needs some way for players to group together. It’s not perfect, but nothing is. To reiterate, I have had just as many great experiences when taking people on from LFG as I had nightmare stories of players unwilling to cooperate, dropping out, or simply being abominable human beings. This simple matchmaking could be a gateway for building lasting relationships in the game.
Destiny 2: Is There Raid Matchmaking
Reach is set to begin on May 3 for owners of Halo 3: Until today, Bungie has been tight-lipped about new features and improvements coming to Reach’s multiplayer game, releasing only one multiplayer trailer. Yesterday, I spoke with the team at Bungie for a preview of some of the new features for Halo: Reach’s multiplayer offering, including Active Roster, Queue-Joining, and the extremely exciting “Arena” system.
Now, I’ve played a good amount of Halo 3 and Bungie’s plans for Reach have me extremely excited. What follows will be pretty in-depth and assume some knowledge of Halo 3’s multiplayer, but I’ll try to explain things in as much detail as possible.
